The Team Profiles

Adam Smith:

A life-long passion for the mountains and the outdoors have led me to countless ‘adventures’ in the mountains ranging from complex mountaineering expeditions in Nepal to hundreds of day trips through the mountains of the Coast Range right in our back yard.
As an experienced alpine/rock climber, mountain biker, and skier, my thirst for adventure has drawn me to amazing places like Nepal, Thailand, Greece, Spain, France, Egypt, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Italy and the UK.
I grew up on Vancouver Island and spent most of my youth pursuing a hockey dream that led to a NY Rangers draft selection and a seven year professional hockey career in the US and Europe.
Currently a firefighter with the District of North Vancouver, when I’m not busy saving cats, I can be found renovating my house on the North Shore or running my construction company.
I also enjoy crashing at least once during every trail run.
Racing competitively for the past eight years, I have competed in numerous regional races including:

BC Bike Race
Sea2Summit, multiple podium finishes
MOMAR, multiple podium finishes
Test of Metal, BC Cup, Gear Jammer mountain bike races
Grouse Grind and other off-road running races

Other Notable adventures:
Spain/France: 19 day cycling traverse of the Pyrenees range
Makalu, Nepal: expedition to above 6000m
Zugspitz, Austria/Germany mountaineering
Mt. Waddington Range: summitted several peaks with ski descents
Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island: several ascents with ski descents
North Cascades: Mt Rexford, Mt Baker, North Twin Sister, Nesakwatch Spires
Coast Range: too many climbing and skiing days to count!

Megan Rose

After growing up in small mining town of 3000 people in Central Queensland, Australia, the bright lights of Whistler beckoned for a term of working abroad.
After having lived and worked in Brisbane, Florida, Connecticut and The Gold Coast, a taste of life and the outdoors opportunities in BC was all I needed to secure my final destination!

Professionally, I have just completed my Business Degree in Event Management and am looking forward to future opportunities with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games!

As a former Snowmobile and ATV Guide, Ski Instructor, Swim/Sailing/Canoe Instructor, Personal Trainer, Outdoor Education Instructor, as well as athletic event coordinator, I’ve been very fortunate to be able to work outside in jobs I’m passionate about!

My athletic background includes a long history of running, swimming, mountain biking and triathlon events as well as a 4 year stint on the National Touch Football Team.
Now adventure racing is my main focus and I look forward to continued success on the International stage.

Graham Tutti

My interest in athletics started with triathlons during university as I tried to fill the gap as my partying days subsided. The very measurable nature of the sport and ability to see your gains from race to race and year to year was, and still is, quite appealing to me. Though eventually I found my interests turning to adventure racing, as my focus turned mainly to mountain biking and trail running.

Over the last 15 years or so, I’ve completed numerous road and mountain bike races, trail running races, ultra– marathons and multi-day stage races… everything from local Sea 2 Summit races to the Transalp Challenge and BC Bike Race. My best moment….well there are lots… but I have to give it to the guy handing out apple juice (after a 4 hour hike-a-bike) on top of some 9000 ft peak on day 4 at Transalp!

Getting involved in the expedition style races has always been a dream, not only for the sheer enormity of the race and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it, but the fact that it hopefully is inspiring and motivating to our local community.

Professionally, I recently made move from 9 years in radio sales as a rep and then manager at Rock 101, to selling Microsoft CRM with KORE Interactive.

Lots of half marathons, marathons, 10k’s, Olympic Tris etc.

Adrian Rothwell

Recreating in the outdoors has been a life long passion for me. As a multi-sport athlete, I have competed in various adventure races worldwide ranging from local “toonie” mountain bike races to Ecochallenge and Raid the North Extreme events as a member of feature teams.

I have been sponsored formerly by Discovery Channel/Advil, Subaru, Kintec Footlabs, John Henry The Bicycle Man, Kimberley Mazda and the KNA News Advertiser.

I work (yes, I have a job … between training and travelling!) as a Chief Financial Officer in the mining industry, encouraging responsible development. I am a designated Chartered Accountant in Canada as well as Australia.
